Finnish ice-hockey player Siim Liiviik was witnessed to call the opposing team's player Dragan Umisevic a "gipsy" during an icehockey game. All racist slurs are strictly condemned by the rules, and Liiviik was suspended from playing in the following game.

"Gipsy" is a widely applied racist term to address the Roma population in derogatory terms. The term refers to to the irregularity and illegality as the stereotyped charactersitics of the Roma. To address the opposing team's player as a gipsy is to associate the negative connotations of the term with the player.

"Zingaro" è un termine razzista ampiamente usato per indicare la popolazione rom in termini dispregiativi. Esso fa riferimento all’irregolarità e all’inclinazione al crimine come caratteristiche stereotipate dei Rom. Dare dello zingaro ad un giocatore di una squadra avversaria significa associare la connotazione negativa del termine col giocatore.

"Cigo" je široko uporabljan rasistični izraz za poniževalno označevanje romske populacije.
